Ram horn manifold flang
I believe what I have are two right side intakes minus the heat riser.
I am trying to connect exhaust to them but I can not find a three bolt flange that will fit. I guess if I was talented enough they would not be that hard to fabricate, but. Anyone have any experience using these without the riser. Thank you Ed |

You need an exhaust riser delete spacer. I got mine from impala bob's. Part no# EMR003 for 2" and EMR004 for 2.5". And the gasket for the riser. Shop around though. I recall seeing them cheaper than where I found mine. Maybe classic parts or speedway.

I just cut the riser flap out and spot weld the shaft to keep it from rattling and leaking. On mine both the flanges are the same.

I run mine without a spacer. I found a donut that has a sleeve in it. The donut has a flat side and a round side, and fits perfect. It's a Fel pro part, and i'm almost positive it is for an old Hemi motor. Hit up your local Napa, and get behind the counter to scrounge around. I have been asked about mine, and I have the part number in a very safe place. As soon as I remember the place, I will post the number
Flanges are nothing special, hit up Summit. |

Any muffler shop can fix you up with those, probably a lot cheaper than going to a parts store and buying it by part number. When I needed one the guy at the shop just reached into a box and handed me one for free.

More clearance for the steering too. I've done something similar to what Orrie said he did on a couple of mine but knocked the flapper shaft out and stuck a bolt in the holes from the inside to plug the holes. I wasn't concerned with looks on those though just getting rid of a bad heat riser valve on a rig.

fdwrench, that is a standard 3 bolt flange that gm used on every sbc from 55 up thru the 80s on some applications.
even autozone should have that on the shelf, like others mentioned your missing the heat riser it is used in conjuction with a flare on the end of the exhaust pipe and a donut gasket. i'd use the feltpro part to see if it will work, that would be an easy fix you probably have 3 inch studs in those, heat them up with a torch and replace with bolts or shorter studs mr48chev, did they ever make a good heat riser valve? for that matter anyone ever tear down a motor that the heat riser crossover wasn't totally plugged up?

I've actually had a number of them that worked pretty well but as you said, usually the cross over is plugged solid. I've pulled more than one of those off and spent an hour or two drilling and chiseling the carbon out of the passageways on customer cars that acted up in cold weather. With the performer intake and headers my 71 GMC takes about four miles before it clears out and runs right on the way to work at 03:30 in cold weather.

Bought the 60556 doughnut, does not fit my manifolds,Too big to fit in the manifold.
I am thinking that the next step is to drag it to the muffler shop and see what he can come up with. Did I say that I do have a clearance issue with the steering shaft. It can not go straight down has to tilt in a little. Maybe I should give up on these manifolds. Anyone know of headers that might work? |
