I'd think if it locked, it will unlock. Do NOT force it OR even add 'extra pressure'. But just jiggle it; and jiggle some more; ..... May help to use a tad of WD-40. Patience, jiggling, a smidgeon of simultaneous upward--then downward--movement on end of key. Remember to smile when it opens!

Should you decide to enjoy luxury of having locking outside handles on both sides--some words of caution: I ordered these from LMC, and the locks were too big to go into my original handles. Had to then order LMC's handles to accept their locks. I think that is BAD BUSINESS. But I was mid-stream by time I realized it....plus I really needed new handles too.
HTH,

...switch handles between sides. Driver's will work as normal; passenger has to be "invited"--i.e., "let" in!!!.

Re: OOPS! HELP locked my drivers side door, now wont unlock

There two different ways to lock the doors on these trucks. First is to actually lock the latch. This is done by moving the inside door handle to the locked position, which actually locks the latch.

The other way to “lock” the door is by using a key in the outside door handle. This does not lock the latch (like in a passenger car), it only prevents the door handle button from pushing in. The latch itself remains unlocked. It can still be opened from the inside by simply using the inside door handle. Also if the outside door handle is removed, the latch can be opened by sticking your thumb or a screwdriver against the latch mechanism and it will pop open.

If the problem you’re having is that the door is locked and you can't get it to open at all, it could be the latch is locked and the inside remote mechanism or arm is broken or off the latch at the back end.

Removing the inner panel should let you see what is not functioning correctly.

Ifim reading you right you got the interior door panel off? If so you should be able to remove the two screws for the whole handle assembly. Then from there disassemble it and reposition the cylinder to the unlocked position.

The lock is pretty simple. There's a tall, thin pin that slides through a tall, thin hole in a plate. When they line up, the button goes in, when you turn the key, the pin turns sideways and it's impossible to get it through the hole. Below is a really basic drawing of this description.

If you take the handle off, you can use ring nose pliers to take it apart. If you do so, there's a spring and several other pieces on the inside, so disassemble carefully and note the order in which they come out. I haven't taken the lock cylinder apart, but I'm sure finding out is easy.
