How does your heater work?

My dad has a 2000 silverado 1500 with the v6 and he is allways complaning about how his heater is not very good. I have a 95 v8 and the heater in it will run you out of the truck its so hot. The heater in the 2000 sometimes will not even defrost the winshield.
Is there somthing wrong with his heat or does this generation of trucks not have as good of heaters than the older ones?
We did replace the thermostat and anti freeze last year and that made no difference.

yes.

what is the temp gauge read? is the truck getting to op temp?

are the radiator hoses hot? are both hoses in-out of the heater core hot?

i would guess, the heater valve is stuck, the heater core is plugged, or the heater flap/door in the box isnt working.

the t-stat on that truck is 210 degrees, 210 degrees is HOT air..

Un hook the heater hoses and flush the core out. Force water one way then the other. You should notice brown crude come out. Keep switching back and forth till it comes out clear both ways.

Re: How does your heater work?

The truck seems to get to operating temp fine. Gauge reads just under the 210 mark. Checked the radiator hoses and heater hoses and all seem to be hot. Since both hoses from the heater core are hot im guessing its not plugged.
I will have to look into the heater valve and flap/door.
