Bolt on back of oil gauge stuck

I got a new cluster which has better looking gauges than what is currently in my truck. Now, the bolt on the back of the oil gauge is stuck (the one that holds the line in). I've tried PB Blaster and no luck. Maybe a little heat?

Oh and another question, are odometers easily removable? I want to put the odo from the original speedo in the new one.

Thanks!

It isn't a bolt it is a brass fitting. Sometimes the are just really tight for a small fitting. It will take a 5/16" wrench to get it loose. I wouldn't use heat on it. It may ruin the gauge. There may be another place to take it apart if you follow the line down by the firewall.

You have to be very careful when you take the speedo apart. There is a piece of thin plastic over the numbers and it is very brittle. If you break it the odometer won't work.

Re: Bolt on back of oil gauge stuck

I tried a 5/16, and when that didn't work, I broke out the vise grips (I know, bad move). It's not really stripped, but more chewed up, I would say I'm almost considering just getting a new line since they're 16 bucks which I don't think is terrible.

You should be able to get the line and fittings at your local hardware or auto parts store for less. If you break the line off right at the fitting you can probably clean the end of the line up and just get a new fitting and put on it.

Re: Bolt on back of oil gauge stuck

I'd prefer not breaking anything to get to it (yeah right ), if I really can't get it off it's not a huge deal, I can always repaint the dial.

Any other suggestions?

Not really. Sounds like the fitting is fubared anyway. The line is just a piece of 1/8" copper tubing that is easily replaced. I'm not sure how you would repaint the dial without removing the cluster...
