Exclamation 53 Chevy S10 Swap Questions

Ive got a 53 5 window cab, and I got the reg cab lb s10 frame, Ive got the cab on the frame, the front fenders hung, and the core support on. My question is how much do I have to take out of the radiator support, and inner fenders to be okay? And what would I have to do to put the GMC clip on opposed to the chevy setup, the problem is Ill have to trim the lower section of the grille to where its pretty noticable. Anyone got any tips for this, Ive been digging around trying to find the gmc builds but everyone goes with the chevy grille. Any help is appriciated.

Re: 53 Chevy S10 Swap Questions

All of these builds are different. I mocked up my cab and fenders then it was trial and error from that point forward. After everything was complete and bolted in place I began mocking up my inner fenders. It's a slow process, cut a little and test fit, again and again. I remember cutting 4 or 5 inches off the bottom off my inners, but as I said, all these builds are different. My cab is roughly 3+" off the frame, cab height decides where the other body components will need to be.

If my stock frame had been in better shape I wouldn't have gone the S-10 route. But, I'm very pleased with how my truck rides and handles with the 87 S-10 chassis underneath.

Re: 53 Chevy S10 Swap Questions

Yeah I figured I was pretty much going the right way. Im thinking get the rad support, and cab mounts done. Then start trimming the inners. The cab Ive got is just for mock up, Its pretty hammered, but Ill make the mounts sometime this week and start on it after the first of the year and update it as I go. Thanks s10fan
