Rear Axle Positioning on Frame - Help Needed

Need some help guys. I have my 52 shortbed down to the frame with the stock rear end gone. Need help, hopefully some pictures showing the where the axle centerline is in relation to the frame.

Im assuming the axle center is right at the peak of the frame hump. Am I correct in assuiming this? If anyone had maybe a top or side view that would be helpful. I know it kinda sounds simple but I just want to be sure.

If not at the top of the axle center hump some measurements from a rivet or a hole in the framemfor refrence would be helpful. A measurement from the rear of the the frame to the center does me no good because the very rear of the frame has been modified.

Thanks, Happy Holidays!!!

I've still got my 53 shortbed frame and drivetrain. I'll get some pics for you when the sun comes out.

Re: Rear Axle Positioning on Frame - Help Needed

Quick question..."are you restoring or customizing your truck?" This will change the answer.

I definitely recommend following the advice of setting the bed back on and using the tire/wheel to center the rear on the truck. Depending on the size of your wheels & tires, this will dictate where the centerline will be. If you don't have the ability to use the bed as it may be disassembled, try to borrow another one or find a truck at a show which has the size wheel & tire you like and take measurements. If memory serves me right, we set my son's 51 up with 117.5" wheelbase...but it has a 29.5" tire.

I still recommend only one true way to find the final resting place...set the bed back on and achieve your ride height, then move the axle so it visually works. Not much looks worse than a tire/wheel too far forward or back, so nows the time to get it right.

Just my $.02 worth...which is probably worth about what you paid for it.

In rough terms (buyer beware) the rear axle centerline is at the front of the 3/4"-ish hole in the middle of the frame to the rear of the kick-up. That should get you close

Sorry for the crappy pic. It's been rainy/cloudy here for the past two days.
Center of E-brake swivel shaft to center line of axle: 37 5/8"
Hope that helps. I assume you're not reusing the torque shaft, or you wouldn't need measurements?
