Disc brake kit

I am trying to gather information on disc brake conversion kits. I want to convert to disc and 5 lug (either 5x4.75 or 5x5) with a 2.5" drop spindle. I haven't had much luck finding a decent kit and was hoping someone here has some information on kits that have been used before.

I know I don't need a kit. I know I can use 73-87 brakkes. I want to use a kit. I am morre interested in making sure the process goes smoothly then peicing a few parrts together to save a feww bucks.

Actually, what Capt'n is suggesting isn't pieces things together. I see it as the superior route.
Buying a kit and piecing onto the older 63-66 suspension members isn't superior.

I am looking for a kit with 2 to 2.5 drop spindles. I have the complete front end ouy of an 83 truck but everything would need need replaced or rebuilt and I would need to get the drop spindles anyway so to .me buying the kit is more practical.

early classic is the best. everything yu need is included. they have great customer service and these trucks are the only thing they make parts for. and as far as piecing parts together whats the differance from a worn out 65 truck front end to a 85 worn out front end? you are smart in my opinion to buy a kit.

Are the parts on the 73-87 front clips that much beefier?

I'm also trying to decide if its worth it to buy a later model clip that will likely need all the parts replaced, as opposed to just replacing the parts on my 64, but adding disc brake spindles, rotors, calipers from a later front end.

Captainfab has said certain parts on the 73-87's are beefier.

I also think things like balljoints and the such are cheaper for the more plentiful 73-87 trucks.

Either way, if one is going to rebuild the front 65 or newer, it's pretty much 6 of one, half dozen of the other.

I'm about to do the same thing on my 64. I think i'm going to go with Brothers Truck. Their deluxe kit comes with

Wanted to thank everyone for their input. Am thinking I wil go woth Early Classics bit I will chexk out Brothers before hand for sure. I looked at thw cpp kit also but thought for the price it was a little lacking. Anyway thanks again for the onformation guys.

the brothers kit changes everything to later model front end stuff. also it does not include master cilender or brake lines. the ece kit has all of this

That would be the way to go for rebuilding the older model front end.

The folks at Early Classic are top notch. Not only is their disk brake conversion kit absolutely first rate (along with everything else they sell), but the guys Mark and Stan will take the time to help you out. They're friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. Can't ask for more! I call them all the time with random questions and/or to clarify something.

Unfortunately, their shipping costs are high... it hurts especially for me being in Massachusetts.
