Question about Brakes

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a stock proportioning valve for a 68 gmc, drum brakes.
this is all I found in the LMC catalog, any ideas on the exact one I need and where I'd get it?

Proportioning valve is only used with front discs because they require higher line pressure than drum brakes. With all drums like on your '68, no prop valve is needed. All it uses is a block (no valve inside) that connects all brake lines to the master cylinder.

Thanks a lot for the info! I was bleeding my brakes and I couldn't get the back to bleed, it wouldn't get fluid to the bleed screws. I thought it was the hose, so I replaced it, unfortunately it didn't fix it. I then removed the line from the *dist valve, and no fluid would come out. Now that I know there's no valve inside, could I just blow it out with an air compressor and be good to go?

Worth a try, depending on what the blockage is. One more thought, the one pictured in FirstOwner69's ebay link has the switch for the dash light.... assuming yours does also, remove the switch and see if that is somehow blocking fluid flow. In fact, before you remove it -- do you have a dash warning light, and is it on? If so, try pressing very hard on the brake pedal a few times. It may center the switch, which just might let flluid flow through the distribution block.

I do have a brake light, and yes I recently plugged that back in after my engine swap. Maybe this is my problem?? it has to be set in an exact position? It comes on every now and then, sort of at random times.

Get a hand pump brake bleeder and pull the fluid back thru the lines. I had the drivers front rubber line blow out on me going down hill and ran thru a stop sign before I got it stopped. It was scary. Anyway, that way the only way I could get pressure and fluid back in the brakes.

LS1 with drum brakes? If you got the GO, you need the WAHO too (?) Is it power drum?

No just regular old drums. Haha
I plan on converting to discs all the way around eventually, but like everything else, it's just time and money.
I bought new hardware, cylinders, shoes, hoses, drums, and master cylinder.
My line fittings in the front turned out to be rusted solid and also rounded off, so I had to cut them. In the LMC catalog it looks like you have to buy the complete brake line kit for drums, for a pretty penny too. Does anyone know where to get pre-bent lines for the front only?

Try The Right Stuff (www.getdiscbrakes.com) or Inline Tube (www.inlinetube.com) for the lines you need. I had excellent results with The Right Stuff.
