Laid Back Windshield on a Blazer

Anyone know of any how to's? Google searches ain't turning up much!

I've seen it done on several blazers made into roadsters. I'm guessing it would involve some cutting, welding and a whole lotta skills I don't have.

Yeah, I've seen it a lot too. Looks like I may have to stare at it a bunch, measure a bunch, scratch my head a bunch and start cutting.I've heard several times that all you need to do is pie cut here and there, lay it back and add some filler material.

I've seen it done in several different variations too. I know how I'd want it to look. I think I'm just gonna have to do it my way because for as many are out there no one seems to have any kind of how to. I haven't even been able to find a magazine article.

I have always wanted to do this, the only thing that stops me
is pictures of blazers gone bad.. real bad
but if you get it it just right, the rewards look awesome

Can you give us an example of one gone bad? I think if I was to do it I'd tack it at the angle I wanted and keep it for a minute to see if I liked it. I could keep it at work. Theres no shortage of people who wanna give their opinion around there!

This is a GOOD way to do it. Check out Post #28 on page 3. This would be super easy to do on a Blazer, but a hell of a lot more work on a truck!

With this method, you could still use the same windshield.

I am bummed out when I see this done. All I see is a Blazer that will forever be a garage kept trailer queen. I like to see them driven a lot, winter, spring, summer, fall. Without worry of a random dark cloud.
Laid back/ chopped windshields = no top
Unless of course, you were gonna fab a custom top, then I'd have to say bring it on!

if you look at my build thread im laying the windshield back on my 69, and you can get some rough ideas of how im doing it, i just started the chop today, so it will be updated pretty regularly over the next couple of days

its pretty simple, pie cut in the lower corners, push window to where you want it and weld it.

i might have some pics, really not hard at all

I had heard about pie cutting the windshield posts and so far have managed to see one done like this. I was curious about what happens to the windshield/seal/lower frame section because that doesn't move at all. I'd like to use the stock glass.

the pie cut is below the post and actually more in the piller/cowl area. so the windsheild opening isnt affected.
