Yeah that would suck, and I could see her doing something like that especially after turning you in for abuse.

Re: Shoestring Budget 65/73 Chevy 2WD LWB
Hey Jason, I've been going through this thread and I think it's looking damn good! Granted rust can be a major PITA, but it's all part of the project. Also makes me think of how good parent-kid builds can be lol. My girlfriend's dad has a '65 Chevy longbed fleetside that I'm gonna end up with. 292 6 Cyl, original trans was a 3 on the tree but the tranny blew and he put in a 3-speed on the floor Buick trans.
I've got a thread for it on here somewhere, it's pretty beat up but I think it'll be a good project.

Re: Shoestring Budget 65/73 Chevy 2WD LWB
Also, I'm really sorry about the divorce. I'm glad my parents are still together. They've been married since April of '85, and were together 2 years prior to that, so they've been together a long time. I really hope it all works out man. Hopefully things will get better, and hopefully you and BlondieK can get time together to work on the truck. Really hoping it all works out for you, just keep your head up and try not to let it get you down.

Re: Shoestring Budget 65/73 Chevy 2WD LWB
Will, Thanks for the kind words.
From the looks of things, nothing will be happening on BlondieK's truck. I don't have anywhere to put it. She is my step daughter, so unfortunately I probably won't see her much, if at all. Looks like you have made some nice progress on your trucks! Last edited by chevy_man5; 02-16-2012 at 04:22 PM. |

And thanks. My '92 was a heap when I got it lol...a Person I worked with last year got drunk one night and rear-ended someone. He didn't have money to pay the tow bill so he just signed off the title and let the salvage yard have it. My dad's cousin bought it, then my dad traded his cousin a gooseneck trailer for it. Next day we had it back together and back on the road. I've since put about 6-7,000 miles on it. She's got a ways to go, but I like it how it is. Lucky the rear end never came out from under me...the old u-bolts were toast. How's that '60 4X4 comin'?

No it doesn't. It just happens to be the idea of the previous owner.

Re: Shoestring Budget 65/73 Chevy 2WD LWB
for anyone else reading this- this will save a ton of time on a bed teardown and recoat:
1. the wear strip bolts will just break off with a vice grips on the nut- you'll never save any of them anyways, and it doesn't bend the strips like you might think 2. get a basic old school sandblaster (bucket and nozzle that hooks to your air comp.(100 psi +) , you get a bag of washed "playsand" for from homedepot - instead of grinding and sanding all the rust |

Re: Shoestring Budget 65/73 Chevy 2WD LWB
He did get a dui. I actually got the story slightly wrong. He did rear-end someone, and did get a DUI. But, he figured the truck was totaled, so he signed the title and just let it go. Then my dad's cousin bought the truck, I traded him a trailer, yada yada and well, 2 years later it's still my daily driver.
