Anybody know where this goes?

So my Blazer has been in the body/paint shop for the last couple of months (should be out sometime between Christmas and New Years), and when I went by the shop yesterday to check out the progress they showed me this part (see pics below) that they could not find a place for. They went ahead and sanded, prepped, and painted it but are not sure where to put it. The part is about 4 ft long, is bent into a channel, has holes pre-drilled for fasteners, and has a slight bow in it. For the life of me I cannot figure out where this thing goes, so I figured I would take it to the forum for some input from guys with a lot more experience than myself. Any thoughts on what this is/where it goes?

Thanks

Re: Anybody know where this goes?

Can't tell anything from the pics but a guess from the discription would be the weatherstrip piece for the tailgate. Just a guess.

Re: Anybody know where this goes?

I took the pics with my phone, didn't realize until now how poor the quality was. I'll be back over there next week with a real camera to get some decent shots. Does the weather strip piece for the tailgate have chamfered ends? I didn't capture it in the pics but that's what this piece has.

Hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like it might be the piece to hold down the front edge of the back carpet right behind the front seats.

Re: Anybody know where this goes?

Those pics are too small for me to tell anything but I think these guys are on the right track.

From the description I'd also guess it's the weatherstrip piece that bolts to the top of your tailgate and seals the rear hatch.

Re: Anybody know where this goes?

My guess would also be the strip that screws onto the top of the tailgate and has a lip for the rear hatch to rest on.
