new clutch vibrations
installed new clutch on 292 engine - clutch works great - But I feel a vibration from the engine (feels like the clutch is off center) is this possible?

Did you have the flywheel machined. They can get warped like a brake rotor. It is more noticeable with a new clutch. It is not really possible to get it of center.

No I didn't - that's probably the cause - I only dirve the truck a few hours a week - how big of a problem do you think I have?

My 64 has the same problem The PO put a clutch in it and did not pull the flywheel and have it machined. If it is like mine, you only feel it when you release the clutch right? I would not loose sleep over it. I don't drive mine very much either. You will get a lot of life from the clutch if you are only using the truck a few hrs a week. If you are pulling a load, then I would worry a little more. Of course, I don't like the little bit of vibration I feel but it is tolerable for the amount of use I give the truck.
I am sure there are those out there that would not agree and tell you you absolutely must pull the trans and clutch and redo it with a machined flywheel. Like I said, I would not loose sleep over it. Enjoy your holiday |

no noticable vibration before new clutch - Old clutch was pretty worn out.

You'd be better off in the long run to remove your clutch and flywheel. Have the FW surfaced then have both componets balanced.
You vibration "could" lead to bearing failures (Tranny/engine) down the road.... How do I know this????? Guess.. Good luck. |
