Tail Lamp question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Anyone seen this one?
Left tail lamp works fine, blinks when blinker is on , gets bright when you hit the brake. Right one is a different story. Its very bright all the time, as if you had the brake depressed however if you take the bulb and insert it where it will not stay it works fine.

You been digging in there messing with the wires as of lately?
Maybe hooked up a trailer harness...or removed one?
Could just be a light bulb made bass-ackwards. I have seen that, but I'll bet they are far and few between.

No digging in the wires at all but I did do a engine swapout this weekend. And to tell you the truth I never noticed this problem before tonight since it wasnt drivable. Ill start with new bulbs and go from there. 1157 correct?

Yup...1157 with the 2 contacts on the bottom....like this only without the gay blue glass.

It is probably in the socket backwards. I remember my left front turn signal was like that. Upon close inspection of the bulb one of the little "tits" (lack of a better term) on the bulb was smashed in slightly and the bulb was inserted incorrectly. Because it was smashed the bulb would not stay in when inserted correctly. A new bulb solved the problem.

Just bought some bulbs. Will try that tonight and see what happens.
