Here goes nothing... My first work thread. Creating the patina look
All,
After owning this truck for 2+ months I figured it was time to start doing my work. I bought it as it sits from a local friend of mine. He is a HUGE car collector. When he bought it he called me to gauge my interest. It is a 69 SWB with a newer 350 and 700r4. The truck runs great and has already made several long road trips. When I am not on my bobber (Harley) this is my other mode of trans. The truck has a pretty average white paint job now. I have always wanted a patina look 2wd so why not this one. I took all the trim off last night. My cousin teaches the welding class at the local career center. He is going to fill all the wholes for a few cases of PBR. I started to strip the paint in the obvious wear areas last night as well. To my pleasant surprise there are several coats of red, teal and black underneath the white. This patina job may be pretty easy. All this so far is just using paint stripper in a spray can. Really need a sander. I am going to continue to strip the white using 180 and 320 grit and see what I come up with. I will post pictures as I go. Last edited by nele22; 12-24-2012 at 06:47 PM. |
