Re: lowering & tiring size advice

You could probably run 295/50r15s all the way around with a 2/4 drop.

What is the backspace on the wheels? I've heard you need a 5" backspace on that size of tire to get them to tuck. I do like both the wheel size and tire size here - doing the same thing on mine.

Re: lowering & tiring size advice

2.5/5 drop with drop spindles and a flip kit is a good first step. that way its easier to go a couple more inches when you want to without removing parts you spent good money on

Re: lowering & tiring size advice

Id recommend an 8 or even 7 inch wide on the front. These trucks have a wider track width in the front than the back. Which meens if you run the same size wheel and back space at all four corners, the front wheels will stick out more than the rears. Unless its a lifted truck I dont care for the look. But to each his own...

My 73 when I bought it. 295/50r15s with 15x10s all around. You can see how the fronts stick out. I didnt like it. Had a 2/4 drop.

Re: lowering & tiring size advice

I have lowered a couple of the squarebody trucks. Both of them had 15" wheels on them for awhile. The trick is the clearancing of the lower A-arm and the rim, with a 15" wheel. You may have to put a small spacer behind your wheel to get that clearance or like I had use a rim that has enough offset that the rim does not come close to the arm. Both of the trucks I lowered had 3" Belltech spindles put on them and one of the trucks, I included another 1/2" drop by using a Belltech lowering spring with the spindle. I lowered the rear of both trucks 4" with Belltech components and had no issuses there, but the clearancing of the rear shckle to the bed crossmember. I ran 245/60/15 tires on the front of both trucks with a 295/50/15 tire on the rear. I now have 17" wheels on the trucks and there is no issue with clearancing at any point. The tires on the 17" rims are 275/50/17 in the back and 255/50/17 on the front.
