dana 70

can anyone tell me if i can use the ring and pinion housing out of a Dana 70 SRW and install it in a Dana 70 DRW ? the reason i ask is that i have a lead on a DRW and SRW but the gears i want are in the SRW, so i want to know if i can just swap center sections or ??
please advise
Thanks.
Henry.

Re: dana 70

As long as both are the standard Dana 70, yes they will interchange. However the gear pattern and backlash will need to be checked when installed in the new housing.

Re: dana 70

Yes, anytime you disassemble a differential, you need to reset the backlash on the gears.

Re: dana 70

Yes, just as tincan1966 said. Anytime you remove the carrier and ring gear and the pinion and install them in a different housing, everything needs checked again. Once in a while you get lucky and they don't need adjustments, but they do need to be checked.
