Anyone use the Snap On "CDI" 1/2 torque wrench??? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Through out my life, Snap On has usually represented top of the line tools but just too spendy for my non-professional career. Then I see these "CDI" line of torque wrenches. I rely a lot on the customer reviews I read on just about everything. I think it's a great way for people to REAL say how they feel about a product. Thing that has me scratching my head is that these wrenches have KILLER reviews and yet they are only $129 most places. I will be bolting on aluminum heads to my 496 and want to make darn sure the torque values are correct. Just doesn't seem like a lot for that kind of name brand.

Anyone use these and what do you think? Thanks!

I used to work in a shop (20 years ago) and purchased some GREAT tools off the Snap-On truck. Tools I still use today. Like you I can't justify that quality of tool for my personal stuff. I will be watching this thread however because a quality torque wrench is a good investment.

I have one at work, only complaint is the head is a little larger than my old snap on.
It is a very nice tool. First rate quality, I use it almost every day

We had them in the Army. I was a small arms repairer. I worked on everything from an m9 to a 120mm cannon. Used every size CDI torque wrench from the 1-50 inch lbs up to the 150-600foot lbs inch drive, and a torque multiplier and 6 foot cheater bar to occasionally put a few bolts to their required 900+ foot lbs. We had to calibrate them yearly, after I pushed them way past what they should be used for, and they always came back spot on ready for another beating. Impressed me!

If your questioning the torque values track down a snap on rep and have him test the wrench for you on the calibrator they have one their truck it will tell you if it dialed or not by inch or foot pounds and usually by degree of swing angle percentage during its torque
