Chevy 250 Question
I have a 66 C10 with a 250, did a tune up the other day and discovered that while at idle i can remove the plug wire from the number 1 or 6 cylinder and the engine continues to run with no difference. If i remove any of the others the engine will have a loss of power. All 6 cylinders are firing, and there is good compression at each. Is this for some reason normal or should i notice a difference when removing any plug wire?

Do you suspect a problems like a miss or loss of power?
Personally, I rarely use that procedure as a sure fire way to determine engnine/cylinder condition. I've done it, but find that sometimes the change is not perceptible enough -at least to me. The best way is to insure the compression is good and to specs, the ignition components like cables, plugs, points, dist cap and rotor are good. If it still not running the way I like it, then I check the carb, timing, check for vacuum leaks and maybe even bad gas.
