Another Annoying Question
Alright, I was wondering what would be the best for the buck of lowering my truck. I just want to go down 2 1/2 inches at most and maybe cut out a little body roll in the process. I was told to go lower at all I'd have to mess with drive shaft angle, drive shaft length, all that stuff. Is this true? The suspension is stock height, and rides alright. Other then the insane body roll... Really, the body roll turns into a handful at times compared to what I'm use to driving.

Re: Another Annoying Question
In my opinion if you added a front sway bar with new polyurethane bushings, you'd find a big differnce in the roll factor. If that didnt satisfy you and you want to lower the truck, a 2 1/2 drop spindle with a 4 inch drop rear coil should get you what you want. As a footnote if your shocks are tired replacing them would make a difference as well.

Re: Another Annoying Question
I replaced all my body bushings(poly),trac bar bushings(poly),shocks and added a front sway bar.It made a huge difference in the handling and I'm still rolling at stock ride height.Keep an eye on the parts board for a sway bar for sale, thats where I found mine.

Re: Another Annoying Question
There's a lot of different options for dropping these trucks. From the pic you provided, you have 10 inch rims in the front and need to be cautious of how low you go. I had 10s with 2.5 drop spindles and my tires had less than 1 inch clearance around the fender lip. You can also get a sway bar from any junk yard 73 and newer Chevy truck up through the early 90s I think. They have different diameters. I went with rubber bushings in the front because it will be a daily driven vehicle, and too much poly can transfer some road harshness similar to low profile tires.

Re: Another Annoying Question
A front sway bar from any 73/87 Chev/GMC truck will work on the front of your truck. Try to find a 3/4 or 1 ton truck in a wrecking yard as they have the larger 1 1/4 inch front sway bar and you can usually pick them up for 20/40.00.

Re: Another Annoying Question
Thanks for the replys guys! Honestly have talked my self out of lowering it again, just seems like to much to deal with right now, and once I get new tires it really wont need it.. My only question now is, how do I mount a front sway bar?lol And We have a new bushing to put on the rear, its the only thing on the suspension that isnt new. Front and rear end was redone awhile back, new springs, shocks, brakes, everything.

Re: Another Annoying Question
It doesn't take much to put a sway bar on the truck. You have to drill out a few frame rivets, then purchase some sway bar mounts, and sway bar. I would recommend purchasing lowered mounts as they don't cost you any more, they don't change anything if it isn't lowered, but saves you money IF you lower it in the future.

Re: Another Annoying Question
Might be a good time to pay the $25 for membership to the site so you can buy and sell stuff? .. just a thought.
Scott has a whole 3/5 drop for sale on the parts section. $300. Would be a good kit for your truck, assuming it's six lug drum (?) Not sure.. just a good way to get it down a little on the cheap, and this is all good name brand stuff. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=558389
