Info on a BIG lift kit

I know some guys don't agree with kits over 6 inches, but I'm doing it. Don't try and talk me out of it LOL.
My 1984 has a 4 inch lift, my 1986 has a 6 inch lift, and I want to lift my 1985 8 inches!

I'm looking to lift my 85 gmc k20 8 inches. Anybody have a good website to buy from? Or should I just go with 4wheelparts? I was thinking about buying all the parts individually. If somebody has a good COMPLETE kit that would be great.

8 inch springs up front..

4 inch springs in back with shackle flip OR 6 inch springs with 2 inch blocks OR full blown 8 inch springs..

brake lines, bushings, diff breathers, transfer case drop, sway bar and all the little things..

shocks? who makes good ones this big?..

Looking to fit 38 inch tires with no fender trimming..

what would you do if you were going this big?

Re: Info on a BIG lift kit

Are you going to wheel it?

How about a 4 or 6" spring lift with a 3" body lift.

Re: Info on a BIG lift kit

NTWonline.com , I have used Superlift and SkyJacker just depends on or what the truck is used for. If it was me I would do all springs , no need to mix match parts.

Nothing wrong with doing 8" lift ,it's just not going to flex and that's where the 4" to 6" come into play with cut fenders and the

I bought a sky jacker from truckaddons.com and it was very reasonable with free shipping. I think they're having a sale now.

Re: Info on a BIG lift kit

I wheel my other trucks. This one is going to be for show, but still driven a lot, and will only see a dirt road maybe once a month. . I just love a nice big truck.
Thanks for the links guys.

Re: Info on a BIG lift kit

my 85 crew has an 8" lift, did have a 71 jimmy with a 12", but wife did not like it. i have skyjacker front springs with longer shackles, ord shackle flips & a 3" block in rear. i haul a camper & trailer so i wanted to use stock springs for capacity (did upgrade to 3800lb stock springs) & a bit better ride then mondo arched springs. the ord flips will help keep your pinion up. also dropped t-case 1 1/2" which means trimming around t-case shifter and rear driveshaft is 2 piece with a dropped center bearing.rear shaft worked fine, front has a longer slip yoke & clearanced cv. you will need brake line drop brackets, or better-longer braided lines. also installed airbags in rear, hate that trail dragger look when loaded & towing. a 38 x12.5 will fit, any wider & you mite have to trim, i installed bushwacker cut-outs & run 38.5x15x16.5. i have fit a 42x14 irok on it with no issues (actually 1 issue-wife). a good investment when you go that hi, swap out all suspension bushings for poly & dont let nobody talk you out of it- nothing finer then then a jacked square, people will say it's useless-not, i haul a camper & 3500lb trailer & i can take it where most trucks fear to tread. higher is better then lower & bigger is better then smaller, & yeah, skirts luv BIG trucks!

I won't try to talk you out of it,but it stands to reason from the pattern you've followed that you should do the 8" lift on a 1988

Re: Info on a BIG lift kit

I would never go that big =-p but if i did to clear 38s.... i would do a shackle flip rear and a 4in spring and then the front use the newer front shackles since they are apparently longer then the springs to make it level or slightly lower
