That's nice. I couldn't have gotten away with using this though, since the holes on mine were widened at one point for an aftermarket radio. The knobs on the stock radio are a bid wider, and cover it up for me. I also didn't want to spend $200-$300 on a radio, but it's definitely a great option if you want a stock type look, with better sound

I wish I could put one of those in mine. Previous owner hacked a big hole in the dash.

Doesn't it make you wish you could go back in time and b!tch slap the guy? Lol

I wonder if you could still fix it somehow? Maybe cut the right holes and square in a radio delete piece, weld it up, and then paint it?

Easiest way to fix a dash is to cut it out from the dash pad down. The dash pad hides your weld. You could replace just the radio area but that involves body work.

I've bought several and non of them have lived up to their billing. Last one I got was advertised as exact repro and fit and it did fit better than the others but the reception is not as good as others I've tried. Unfortantely, I don't remember where I got it.
Bought my antenna through The Truck Shop, non-telescopic, base was not the stamped steel wing type, solid cast. Fit perfect, doesn't rattle lose and stations are nice and clear. Will get part # when I get back home, next weekend.

Actually the easiest way to mount up a modern radio and cover a hack job is to use a delete plate. Did this several times in the late 70's and early 80's to make a clean installation on a customer's truck. Combined with an aftermaket radio's faceplate the final installation looks very good, Just not stock.

There is a post in the truck audio section and I think it is Vintage radio or somthing and they are selling them for under $200 right now. This is the radio I will be going with in my truck.

If you install a expandable antenna set it at 30 inches for best fm reception

Man, that looks good! I want to get a non-working radio just to fill the hole in my dash someday.

Hey Mr. B, do you know why KSL AM shuts down at night? (or at least they used to-I don't listen to am ever anymore)

Ol' Castro used to broadcast his propaganda (again, maybe he still does, IDK) and he used 1060 AM as one of his stations, same as KSL. Now, at 50,000 watts, KSL could cover up these Cuban broadcasts, but our Gov't would jam the signal with some major wattage that would wipe out KSL, even 1500 miles away. It used to be that if you tried to get KSL at night all you would hear was white noise and some kind of beeps, like Morse Code or something, but just the same few beeps over and over. And every once in a great while, you could hear the Spanish of the Cuban station. I think every so ofter our jammer would go down or need maintenance or something. Meanwhile, we could hear it on the X clear as a bell

Just some AM trivia for you

Bought a non-telescopic radio antenna at The Truck Shop, works great. Part #67-057041 for $32.00. Also bought an original style dash speaker from Electro-Tech, Inc. in Blaine, Mn. fit perfect and works great for $49.95.

Very nice Mr B, I love the factory look. My 72 has an aftermarket radio an
I hope and pray that the dash is not cut. I know that happens with aftermarket radios and I hope I have the same situation as you and the factory knobs cover it.

I love your truck.

Hey, thanks man. I appreciate that. I got quite a few goodies for it for Christmas that I haven't taken pics of yet. Just a bunch of small stuff, like new side marker and tail lights.

You can check whether your dash is cut in less than 2 minutes. You'll be nervous as hell, but you just gotta do it.
