WTB - 292 power steering brackets

I am looking for power steering brackets. I have a 1967 292. If you have a set, let me know what you want for them shipped to Brookings, SD 57006.

Re: WTB - 292 power steering brackets

Do you have pictures of what you want, or is there something you are looking for specifically for a '67 292 (is a '67 292 PS stuff different than a '71or a '82 for instance)? I have access to a yard, the yard owner said he has enough brackets and pulleys to build a PS setup for a 292. If all you want are brackets, I can ask tomorrow, but I can't guarantee a year they are from. Let me know if this helps, I'll do what I can. Thanks.

Re: WTB - 292 power steering brackets

Here are some pictures from pestwagon's setup.

Any help you can give me would be great. This dump truck is a challenge to steer in tight places. My biceps and forearms are getting too big for my t-shirts.

Re: WTB - 292 power steering brackets

I will take a look tomorrow. I just wanted to check it wasnt a '67 only part, and that all you want are the brackets. I'll try and take a couple pics of the brackets off a motor, and a couple mocked up on a motor, it may not be tomorrow when I get back to you with pics, but I'll try. David

Definitely not a 67 only part. Thanks for the help.

Re: WTB - 292 power steering brackets

Well, good and bad news. I've attached a few pictures for you to look at. Please do not think I am being rude/a know-it-all, this is all stuff I've just begun to learn over the past few months. The good news, there are a couple PS steering brackets available, bad news, they are off newer vehicles, 77 or 79. I tried to get a couple pics of the motor so you could see it was a 292, you can tell by the motor mount location and size of rocker cover on the side of the block. The motor I used for mock-up was a 73/74 and older cylinder head, it was the oldest one we had. It was in a 74 Grumman van. It looks like it will bolt up perfect, the only difference is in the water pump bypass pipe. The newer 292's used a smaller bypass hose. I also tried to get a pic to show you how it mounted up around the thermostat housing. Hopefully this helps. The bracket and pump, NO pulley, asking price $140 shipped. When you go to mockup on your motor for pulleys, be careful making sure all 3 pulleys line up okay.

Re: WTB - 292 power steering brackets

I could do it for $120. The yard owner wants $100 for what I showed you, I'm not trying to make any money off this, it looked like around $35 to ship everything, the pumps just weight, so I should be able to ship it for $20.

Re: WTB - 292 power steering brackets

I will look at my pump tomorrow just to make sure I am on the right page here.
I will likely take the brackets without the pump. I will get back to you tomorrow.

Re: WTB - 292 power steering brackets

I bought brackets, but haven't installed them. Actually I haven't even opened the box that they came in. I hope they are in the box, it could be a brick for all I know.

Re: WTB - 292 power steering brackets

michael are they like the ones that 68chevyfuelie pulled for me? Those were not correct, they didn't work at all. They completely interfered with the hose going from the water pump to the head.
Send me some pictures of what you have.
