swap compatibility?

Does anyone know if the axles off an 73-87 chevy 4x4 bolt up to a 1971 chevy 4x4? Looking at getting a dana 44 or 10-bolti to swap to the 1971 Burb. I need to know if the spring perches are the same distance apart??? Trying to find 3/4 ton axles with 4.10 gears to replace the 1/2-ton 3.07 axles. Thanks in advance!

Re: swap compatibility?

Front is a direct swap, rear will probably need spring perch and shock mounts. As far as the D44 goes, there are big bearing and small bearing spindles, but you can swap 6 lug 1/2 ton to 8 lug 3/4 ton. Not sure if that works on the newer 10 bolts or what years the parts interchange. Early to mid 80s went from D44 to 10 bolt.

Re: swap compatibility?

Front is a direct swap regardless if its 10bolt, d44 or d60. As for the rear the only direct swap will have to come from a 1 ton as the 73-87 1 ton spring perches are the same width as all 67-72's. however you will need to relocate the rear shock mounts.
