Re: Can I see your tachometer???

keep looking on there. I got a whole cluster for $35-$40 plus shipping. Took the tach out and chunked the rest...

Re: Can I see your tachometer???

Interesting. I almost like the first one because the gauge arm looks closer to the factory arms. Thanks for posting.

How much cutting and modding was required to get that tach securely mounted in the bezel? I'm really leaning towards this. I like the "close to factory" look.

Re: Can I see your tachometer???

Here is the one that is going in my truck. I had a fellow board member build it for me with a 8g tach and clock.

Re: Can I see your tachometer???

As long as you already have the factory setup, you can do like I did. I purchased a factory tach setup off the parts board here when there was a big debate about the accuracy of the factory tachs. I had just installed a fresh 383 I built so I decided to go with a known tach, the one I previously used to break engines in with. I threw a quartz clock in out of an 80s Sub for good measure.

I had to fab a little metal bracket that I coated with that stuff you dip your tool handles in so it wouldn't rub the factory printed circuit. I used a trailer wiring connection. If I remember correctly I needed +12V, ground, tach signal, and light that I tied to the dash ligts so it dims with the rest of them. Four wires needed, handy to pull apart for service.

The new bezel (first picrure) came from da-burbs shop this summer.

If I had something like that, I'd be disclosing who built it.

It looks like both of you have the same clock. I dig that. Where did you get it. Thanks for posting.

Re: Can I see your tachometer???

Thanks for all of you that posted. As it turns out, I messed around with the idea of selling my tach dash and making a custom one. The dash didn't last a day and it was bought. Now I'm making my own. Thanks for all that posted!
