New to forum and 68 c10 4x4 frame swap questions?

Hello all. Just joined the forums today and have a few questions for you. I have a 1968 C10 that is getting passed down from my grandpa. The thing is I do not have the space or money to do what this truck really needs done to it to bring it back from the dead but a friend of mine wants to buy it from me and have me restore it for him. He wants it converted from the I6 to a V8 and convert it to 4x4. I have always been a ford man but have worked on anything that has wheels on it and I have done this on fords before but I was trying to read up on what year frames can be swapped in without major fab work.

Welcome aboard from Central Florida! Motor swap is no biggie, as far as converting a 2x to 4x I'm no expert but we have a few in here. Someone will be with you shortly

Re: New to forum and 68 c10 4x4 frame swap questions?

Welcome!!

without any fab work, any 67-72 4x4 frame will swap in. however, i'm getting parts together to swap from 2wd to 4wd, but am using a 1971 2wd leaf spring frame as a starter. i've got most parts already, but this will require adding the front spring mounts, and changing the rear spring hangers to 4wd hangers. any of the later frames ('73+) will require changing the cab and bed mounting points, along with some other modifications (some major)

for the motor, it's an easy swap to do.

That is exactly the info I needed. Now I will be on the lookout for a 67-72 frame for it. Thank you very much guys. Being more of a Ford guy I may be on here alot learning some of the secrets of a Chevy.
