Is this suppose to happen

My belts did not line up so I was doing some investigating as to why? I know i have a short shaft on the w/p, but i have 4 pully spots on the c/s pulley. I pulled it off to find out that they shimmed it with washers. Then i wanted to clean up the harmonic balancer and woops!

That's actually fairly common. The rubber that holds the balancer together will deteriorate over time and come apart. At least it did it now and not while you were driving down the road!

Can i use a 350 balancer on the 307. I know it will fit the shaft and seal, but what will the 8 in dia. and the weight effect?

Re: Is this suppose to happen

I had one on my 89 K30 454 slip to the rear and chewed a hole in the oil pan 200 miles from home. That was an expensive night.

They are both internally balanced so it won't be a problem. The only problem you might have is the timing tab.
