Re: junk yard finds!!
I went looking for parts up in Las Vegas once and never found a truck in a salvage yard any where up there.
Lucky that you at least found some. They don't make that stuff anymore and it is getting harder and harder to find.

Re: junk yard finds!!
Both of those trucks have some nice sheet metal on them. And the windshield trim too.

Re: junk yard finds!!
It might not seem as expensive if you needed the parts bad, or if you could not find them elsewhere. I not taking up for the guy but I just came from the salvage sale today and [I know this is not a fair compareision late model to old stuff] Trucks are bring more wrecked now than I was selleing them for 18-24 months ago. There was only one chevy truck with less than 172000 miles and it was a 2 wdrive and it brought 7900 wrecked with 114000 miles. That was before the buyewr premium or pullout fees or anything else[and that usally ends up between 20-25%]. It is just harder to find stuff period be it old stuff or newer stuff it is harder now than it has ever beenand I don't see it easing any. So, yes his stuff may be high or seem that way but what can we do ? one buy it and gripe a little two keep looking and gripe a little or three do without that part and gripe about it?

Re: junk yard finds!!
but i think they are overpricing their stuff not many people go there,
i called and asked prices for a hood of a 2000 jeep grand cherokee and they said it was $150 and i have to take it out, $175 and they will take it out, so i went to another junk yard and i found the hood for just $37 thats a huge saving! |

Re: junk yard finds!!
I take it you bought the power brakes off the black one? one of your shots shows it on there and the others show it gone - are you using this or selling it?

Those are two different trucks, one flat bed and one fleet side.

Re: junk yard finds!!
Hmmm, Greensboro isn't that far away from me. What's the name of that yard? There's also a classic car yard up near asheboro that I'm going to try and visit. Last time I drove be there, they had a 64-66 c-10 sitting out front.

Re: junk yard finds!!
Thanks 1963c-10, i'm trying to get this thing done by june and be able drive it down ocean blvd on senior week. now i'm upfitting my gpa's old bodyshop to use it for the truck. Guys the yard i'm talking about is north of Denton and probably 20 or more minutes south of Asheboro. It's called richard's salvage and he has some nice stuff, just not what i was needing at the moment, appreciate the help everyone, i'm hoping to find a god bed soon, it'd be really helpful if some people could post up some local yards that i could call. Heres the guy's site. http://richardsclassiccars.com/

Re: junk yard finds!!
^ That's the same yard I'm talking about. I'm hoping to go, not this coming weekend, but next. So, they did have some good stuff? Are you allowed to go in and pick your own parts? How do they do their pricing?

Re: junk yard finds!!
lots of guys looking for those tailight lenses on the panel.....pretty hard to find, and "blue dots" to boot! I've got a pair stashed away in case I break one! Apparently nobody's making em, at least at the moment.

Re: junk yard finds!!
I thought that might be Temple auto parts in South Carolina... Thousands of vintage cars, with a LOT of very, very good parts on them, but they're about 3-4 times the prices they should be.
$400 for a '59 Chevy dash, $100 for a steering wheel, $250 for a bare K-frame for a Duster... and I had to pull everything. -Brad
