CD Player install
I'd like to put a CD palyer in my '85 Suburban. Will it fit where the radio is? I know I'd have to cut some, but is there enough room inside there after I get the faceplate to fit. Thanks for your help.

It will fit with no problem. I have one in mine.

Or you could build a small floor console and put it there. Then you won't have to do any cutting.

 Just have to cut where the knobs were before.

It's pretty easy, of course mine doesnt work now
when I start my truck, the cd player makes the sound it used to make when a cd was being ejected. I put a fuse in, and it kindof, well....blew up...anyone know how to fix it?

Do you have buckets and a center console in your '85? If so, you could take the approach I did in my '86.
I mounted a FM-modulated Pioneer 6-CD magazine player in the center console of my truck. It's at my fingertips this way-- great for changing magazines on the fly. It also mounts vertically and doesn't take up much space inside. Best of all, there's only 1 small controller on the dash to the left and below the radio to give it away. No cutting holes or drilling in the dash, just one to route the cable through the bottom of the console. I took this route to keep the factory stereo-- the knobs are still easy to use with gloves on in cold weather. Plus, I'm just kind of goofy that way...  It has never skipped and has worked flawlessly. I'm pleased with it!

i'll be building a small console to fit below the ashtray to mount my cd player. i bought a radio delete plate that will be installed where my stock radio is now. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...threadid=71482 here's a thread with pics of mine.
