what did that come out of? a medium duty truck? i was curious about this engine too, but no one on the board really had anything good to say about them. i have seen at least 2 board members now running them. i forget names, but one is a 4x4 blazer with 44's. seems you can score the engines cheap, and they are almost always low-mile units. keep us updated on the progress.

A 427 tall deck is what my boss runs in his truck. Also pulled sleds in competitions .To this day no problems..
here is the thread.

I am going to try and get a good picture of it this week..http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...threadid=74332

the engine is out of a medium duty truck. they r a good engine with the tall deck height all u need to do is put a spacer in to run any aftermarket intake. Plus u can build huge cubic inches out of these engines. the only other difference is that u need to use a longer distributor and fuel pump pushrod if u r going to use a mechanical pump.

i have a 366 tall deck. It was in my truck but the truck is in a million peices right now but the engine has always run strong. If you dont want to spend big bucks for an aftermarket distributer do what i did have the ridge taken off a stock gm one at a machine shop then go to you local industrial supply store and buy a lock collar that fits the distributer. Then you can adjust it to the height you need.

We use to run those on my Offshore boat. Twin 540's with Hilborn's. We had our own rev kits in them, I think Milodon has them now.

I had a 366 tall deck stuffed into a 78 caprice, it sounded sweet, looked sweet, but seemed to be gutless as hell, all bore no stroke, but I was always curious about the tall deck 427's
