New Dash, problems...

I bought this dash new in the box from another board member.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=427018

I finally got it installed and so far I have run into a few quirks that I am sure I am just doing something wrong.

-The temp gauge isnt reading anything at all (Wondering if the sending unit isnt working or possibly the sending unit is the wrong one to make the gauge work????)
-No lights in the dash, turn signals work, but no illumination lights (Maybe bad headlight switch????)

Anyone got any ideas on this????

First thing I would check is the circuit board contacts to make sure they're not all mangled or loose. Insure the push in connector is inserted properly and making good contact. On one occasion I had one that was no in all the way and in another the circuit board contacts were mangled up.

That was the first thing I checked. The circuit board is brand new, the connector going into the panel is solid and none of the ends are mangled... I was thinking that maybe the temp gauge might be electric or something different than the factory one. Is there a way for me to check that???

You aren't switching from an idiot light cluster to gauges are you? If so, you need to change some wires around on the cluster plug. You would also need to change the temp sender in the block.

It is in a 67 so... possibly! Do you know which wires need to be switched so that I can check to see if they are in the right location???

You may need to start by finding the sending unit to determine what you have. Usually located on the head or in some newer engines on the t-stat housing.

Look at this pic for connections and you may need to follow the wiring.

Here is a thread that has a link in the first post to GMCPauls web site with the instructions. It also has some other info in it.

If it is the wrong plug for your new cluster there is a small chance you may have fried the temp gauge. If it doesn't work when you get it all sorted that may be why.
