linkage goes through the holder bracket attached to the top of the kick pnl.........attaches to the vent door w/ the carb. rod style clips.....threaded end of the vent rod is attached to the handle opposite end is fed down through the 1st tab of the vent door, through the clip then on down through the 2nd tab on the vent door. attach the other end of the clip on to the vent opening rod. btw if your clips are rusty and old like mine were,go to your local parts house and look in the "help" section.....got mine at auto-zone....comes in a assorted pack of different style clips, there's 2 of each style ,enuff to do each side. just keep in mind the vent door is being pulled toward you as you pull the rod and handle...i know it sounds elementary, but that's the best way to keep in mind the orientation. hope this helps.....

Do both sides go in from the top? One more question. Are the arms themselves the same? I have three arms that are the same, and can't find the fourth one I have. I really appreciate your help.

Thanks very much for the compliments. It is always nice to hear them .

the threaded rod end needs to be oriented to facing the inside of your interior to properly attach the vent handles.and yes all the rods are the same.....all the bends are the same no matter what side of the truck they'll be installed on. btw, why do you have 3 arms already? you should only have a rod per side, not 2 per side ...so you don't need to tear apart the garage to find the "other" rod!! also, i dont have mine here in front of me but i do know those rods are all bent the same, and the vent rod handle needs to be threaded onto the rod in only one way.....so if that does put the other end to where it needs to go up through the tabs on the door so be it.......but i don't think thats the case.i've still got mine torn down ...i need to put some washers behind the bracket to bring it out from the wall 'cause it's rubbing against my (soon to be installed) kick panel's.good luck,... let me know how it goes!!

Thanks, That should clear it up. I am really busy this week, so I probably won't get to it until this weekend. I have a total of four arms because I got two off my donor cab and had two previously. Thanks again for your help.

i stand corrected low68!! just completed puttin' mine all back together, and the only way they will work is from the top....down(w/ the rod through the tabs on vent door)on the drivers side only!! the pass. side is from the bottom of the tab on the vent door through the clip and so on.... thats the only way to orient the threaded end correctly w/ the vent rod handle.

Hey BUXMAN66, in your sig. under your name wasn't his name Headly Lamar? From the great Blazing Saddles? Also has anyone ever seen the other version where the Sheriff had to try several times to catch Mongo and finally put him in a divers suit with the big helmet underwater and then shut off his air to catch him. I saw that version four times and lately the only one I have seen is where the Sheriff gives him the explosive box of candy to catch him.

Yep, his name is Headly Lamarr, and he has to correct Governor William J. Le Petomane, when he says it's Headly not Heddy. Then the Governor replys "What the he!! are ya worried about? This is 1874 you'll be able to sue her!
