85 colum to a 88 or newer streeing wheel

ok so i have a 85 with the thin wheel and the squarer horn and i got a 88 foam wheel with the small round horn butten but i dont think i have all the parts for it.

I have swapped 4 or 5 of my squares to the 88 style wheels,If I remember all you need from the 88 is the wheel and button.You use the rest of the parts from your existing truck.The spring,plastic piece that holds the wire and wire itself.The 88 might have the same pieces too....hope this helps you....

what spring and wire?? all i have is the cup on the 85 that is way to big to fit in the 88

Any way you can get a picture? The plastic piece goes on after the spring into a little tube.There is a notch in the tube that the plastic piece locks into to hold it in place. If your missing the tube,that might be why there's no other parts there.This tube is under the lock plate,there's a snap ring & spring that needs to come off to replace the tube.If I had one apart I would take some Picts for you...

I just looked on the LMC catalog,under steering components,it shows the lock plate & horn contact kit there.Maybe the wire was on the 88,cause it does show up here..Instead of the little button holding spring in place,there is this plastic piece & wire,the other end of the wire has a spade connector that plugs onto the inside of the horn cap.You might need a trip to the auto wrecker.

Pull your wheel off,then you will see the spring set up I was telling you about.It will probably make more sense then eh....

i did the opposite on my truck. something with the horn switch didnt work. ended up just removing the horns, never used them anyways lol

like a dumbass i forgot that my kids mother has a 89 berb with the same will i want so i took a look and now see what you mean about the spring wire and that is what i dont have. thanks for the help guys. later mike
