Question Who is using a shaved door kit?

Since there isn't alot of room with the window and how the solenoid mechanism needs to be rigged I was wondering what have you done for an interior door handle?

I was thinking of maybe just an electric button but would prefer an interior handle.

Can anyone share their ideas and how to's please. Pic's would be great too.

Re: Who is using a shaved door kit?

I used bar claw latches and simply used interior door handles off of a late model Chrysler Magnum wagon. I just ran a SS cable from the door handle to the bear claw latch. I used a cable so that there is give(slack) in the cable to that the bear claw latch so that when using you remote there is no binding. The location of the solenoid is directly under the bear claw latch (toward the outside edge of the door - as shown by the exposed bolt heads in the second photo). A straight shot makes tripping the latch much easier because you are pulling in a straight line.

I have never liked the idea of an interior button to trip the doors. I also wired in my power window motor to my door popper so that I cab roll each window up/down by remote. Again providing another way into the truck if the solenoid fails.

For my shaved door kit I went with one from Dakota digital. Other than the wimpy solenoids it is a great system.

Here are a few pics.

I'm in the process of finishing my interior.

Marc
