swapping to power brakes 68

I am parting out my 69, which has p/b. My brother in law has a 68 without p/b, question is, is the switch as easy at bolting the new booster/master cylinder in place of the old one? Hoping the swap is a shade tree mechanic job. Any help is appreciated thanks

Re: swapping to power brakes 68

It's pretty easy. I did it with my 67. Make sure to get the push rod, vacuum hose and dust boot on the firewall. I had to move my brake lines a bit but they worked. Be patient when bending.

Re: swapping to power brakes 68

Is the pedal the same? Or is the only difference outside the firewall?

Re: swapping to power brakes 68

Remove everything from inside the cab brake pedal forward.

-Order a power brake brake pedal firewall seal from site vendors on this site.

-The master cylinder does not need to be swapped unless the 69 has a newer one or is different than the 68. If they're both the same, just unbolt the one from the 68 and push it forward making sure you don't bend the brake lines.

-Install the brake pedal link and booster and bracket assembly.

-Check the front seal of the booster for rust or signs of leaks.

-Check the rear of the m.c. for leaks.

-Check adjustment of push rod in front of booster to insure it's adjusted properly to the master cylinder.
