Re: Some progress pics.
I can't edit previuos post to add pics. I am gonna get some different valve covers. It has been a while since I have reinstalled heads. What type of thread selants do I need and does I still need that copper spray of do the new gaskets eliminate the need?

Re: Some progress pics.
Hunting a head bolt and then everthing gets buttoned up. What can I use to clean the old fluid out of the inside of the pump?

Re: Some progress pics.
Take it apart by removing the fitting and the 2 studs... the re-seal kit is 7 bucks and WORTH IT'S WEIGHT IN GOLD over and over again! You can then wipe out the sump and clean off the pump.
Once it is installed, use Dextron, not power steering fluid.

Re: Some progress pics.
Is a puller of any type needed or does it just come apart? Thanks KT

Re: Some progress pics.
I am getting a little closer. I had to go ahead and buy a new gas tank and it arrived yesterday. Here we are as of right now.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that there are no motor probs but the motor is clean on the inside. If it does have some kind of major engine problem I will replace it with a 260 hp GM crate.

Re: Some progress pics.
Shop called and said they feel unsafe hooking the battery up due to the wiring. Could be as much as 20-25 hours to replace wiring in entire truck plus the harness which aint cheap. Hope the motor is ok after all this is done.

Re: Some progress pics.
She is home. I need to take it to get the exhaust done and then it is ready for a test drive. I am pleased with everything I have seen so far. I had a short amount of time before it got dark and did not get pics. The stance turned out to have less of a rake which is good. I will have to see if I want to go a little lower in the back.

Re: Some progress pics.
Well I got the exhaust done and now I am having a problem getting fuel from the new tank and lines. I thought it might be the pump so I replaced that and no luck. I have run it up to 15 minutes with a fuel line dropped in a gas can but when I hook it up to the tank it will run for a while and then die from lack of fuel. I can then drop a line back in the can and it will fire right up. After that I can hook the line to the tanks back up and it will run for a while and then die again. I have blown air from the line at the pump back to the tank and you can hear the air bubbling in the tank. It is like it can not keep suction from the tank. It is running well when it gets gas. The shop ran a rubber line from the tank to new hard lines on the frame and I can not see where it connects at the top of the tank so I hope there is not a kink that requires the tank to be dropped.

Re: Some progress pics.
Is the cap on the tank when running and it dies? Just wondering if it is forming a vacuum in the tank with a non vented cap that the fuel pump eventually can't overcome.

Re: Some progress pics.
I forgot to mention I have run it with the cap off the tank and experienced the same problem. I am open to suggestions.
