67 Chevy Diesel 4X4 just came in for some wiring...

I thought you guys might like to see this one... It is a 67 Chevy 1 ton Dump Truck. The owner brought it to me to completely rewire it. I believe it has a 478 GMC Toroflow V-6. Interesting looking motor. Kind of cool, but I would have used a Duramax. WES

Nice looking truck. The tires seem small....

Didn't really have to shoehorn that in there. Looks good.

The motor fit pretty well. I am glad, because I have to work around it..lol Tires and wheels are paint rags. He has larger ones for it. WES

OK Wes, Now you need to tell me about the 4x4. Is it a NAPCO (HO52 style front axle, pass. drop) or maybe a Marmon-Herrington (Spicer 70 closed, driver drop) kit conversion by any chance? Is it a frame swap type conversion or a "factory style" like Diesel Wrencher's Longhorn?

Honestly Tim, I do not know much about it. The customer brought it to me like you see it. I think it is a 3/4 ton 4X4 chassis that has been boxed and modified heavely. I haven't looked close enough to determain much yet. WES

Thanks Wes,
There was a 67 NAPCO around Bremerton IIRC that I lost track of.

Nice. 4x4 work trucks are my bias. They remind me of my childhood in NorCal when my uncle (69 K20 LWB) and my pops (66 napco panel) would bring me along cutting trees and fighting fires. Fun times.

That looks like a D478 Toroflow allright. Actually a pretty easy swap, the Toroflow was related to the GMC V-6's, and had the same bell housing bolt pattern. I have seen this swap done before.

What kind of hp and torque did the Tori flow make? Are they 2 stroke?

Re: 67 Chevy Diesel 4X4 just came in for some wiring...

I wish I had hung on to the 6.2 Detroit diesel out of my 82 3/4 tonsuburban. It had 345k moles on it and still ran good. It would have made a great daily driver. I was pulling down 20 mpg highway! A SWB pickup would have been even better!
