Rear end guys

Will my 5 lug half ton axles fit in the rear differential of a 6 lug Suburban. Can't tell the year of it yet, but I believe it's Pre 88

Re: Rear end guys

Hey this Burb is a 4x4/ 6 lug and I think the guy will seperate and sell me the rear. I asked him to check the code on it to see the gearing, but I gotta a question. It's an 88 year model, is that when they changed the splines won the axles. I don't want to give up my 5 LUG.

Re: Rear end guys

A 6 lug axle should be a 10 bolt like your 5lug 2WD axle. The question is, is the width the same?

Re: Rear end guys

It's a SQUARE BURB, shouldn't the rear be the same. I'm trying to locate a 3.73 geared rear and was told that some of the Burbs were 3.73 and if they were 12 bolt or 4x4, possibly factory posi. This Burb is an 88 with 6 lug. If this was one of the rears I was referring to, can my 5 lug axles fit, to replace the 6 to 5 lug

Re: Rear end guys

I think those are 30 spline starting in 1988..Just get some axles from an 88 and up 2wd. They are 5/8" longer.
