Reproduction front cab support fit

For those that have replaced their front cab supports with reproductions, how did they fit? I placed an order for some reproduction sheet metal and most came as tri-plus but my front cab supports were from counterparts. Looks pretty close but I was making templates to trim up the repop and I noticed some issues I'll run into for installation. See the pic below. Sorry it's the best pic i had. So what do you think? Is this as good as it gets for this part?

Re: Reproduction front cab support fit

Hey structures, Im not sure where I got mine from from or who made them but mine had to be modified also. I remember the bolt holes being a little off and an extra hole was there also. I just bolted mine in and then bent the tabs in against the cab frame rails and welded them in. Mine turned out good, but your right they are not perfect fit by no means. check out post number 68 in my build. good luck.

The replacement front cab supports is one of those parts that I have seen numerous complaints about here on the forum. They have all been pretty much as you have pointed out.

Re: Reproduction front cab support fit

The mounts are the same as the 67-72's,except for the noted mods that need to be made to fit our trucks.
This was conveyed to me by the vendor when I purchased them.

I had similar issues with the fit of mine although the fronts fit much better than the ones in the rear. They were a real pain and disappointing.

Re: Reproduction front cab support fit

I encountered the same junk on the burb. It would have been better to make my own, as that is what I ended up doing anyway, I'm just out the cash for typical Chinese crap.
Same goes for floor pans, second truck I just used flat metal and made my own. I now know a guy w/a bead roller, English wheel, etc. No more crappy patch panels for me.

I got mine from classic parts. I had the same problem. Nothing a air hammer, regular hammer couldn't fix. Once I worked it in place it fit fine. Pics are on my build page.

Re: Reproduction front cab support fit

Guys appreciate the feedback. They're pretty close. I wish when these parts were built they would leave them blank.

Re: Reproduction front cab support fit

Mine were from Taiwan. Bought them 15 years ago and they sucked too. Fix the stock ones if at all possible. that goes for any floorpan repairs. All the repro sheetmetal out there sucks. The next truck i got i bought an original floor pan from AZ. I'll never buy repro metal again. I'll make it if i have to. I had to almost remake a repro rear cab mount in order to use it. Repro rockers suck too. I went the extra dollar and bought NOS rockers. And i have been also looking for NOS stuff in case i ever get in an accident and have to redo something.

Re: Reproduction front cab support fit

I had to modify my outer rockers and make my own inner rockers. I bought 2 sets of outer rockers and inner from different manufactures. They were all funky in the corners. I had to pie cut them in the corners, add metal and tig weld them up. Used a brake made my own inner rockers. With all foreign made stuff, we all just might have to modify or make our own. I also had to modify the front lower pillers. These parts are close but not exact. Good luck and take your time.
