Previous Owners...
...was wondering how many your truck has had and for how long they had it.
My 69 4x4 had 3 previous owners... original owner had it from 1969-1980 2nd owner had it from 1980-1994 3rd owner (half-assed restored it) had it from 1994-2002 4th owner (Me of course!) 2002- (plans to own it forever but you never now right?) How about the rest of you? I know there's sum of you that may not beable to tell but it would still be interesting to see for those who can. Thanks Brian

Mine has proably had 5 or 10....it was made in Atlanta, GA. I bought it from a man in southren Missouri, and he had only had it for 6-months. Before that, it came out of Arkansas, so it had been a southren truck most of its life.

I'm not sure, but I think my '71 may have only had 2 owners before me. The 2nd owner may have never even driven it.
The story goes is that the truck had centerlined a telephone pole. The idgit I bought it from had bought it thinking he could turn the 402 into a 427 (won't work). He stored it in a barn for a few years, then "fixed" the front end with a bumper, grill, and hood, and then advertised it in the paper. The odometer shows ~60K, so I'm thinking it may only be 160K. When I bought the truck, the title was still in the previous owner's name, signed over about 5 years earlier, but never processed to the new owner's (idgit's) name. It's been a great truck so far. The bed is horked, but the cab is in great shape!

i am the fourth owner of our truck, a friend of mine had it sitting in his yard for about 3 years. he bought it from another ohioian(along with about 20 other cars he owns like sanford and son) it originally came from n.carolina. found the original 71 n.c. truck plate holding the battery box together. well i have a little more than half of the plate as most of it is rusted away with the battery tray and inner fender. so i traded my 98 jeep with 122,000 miles on it for the chevy, a 96 dodge 4x4 that was rolled over (not a straight pice of sheetmetal on it)kinda fixed now and a thousand bucks.

There was a thread along these lines not long ago.
I am the 2nd owner and have had the truck for the past 17 years or so. The previous owner was the Plant Science department of our local University. They bought it new in 68 from a then local dealer, now defunct.

I guess you would say 3rd for mine. I got it from the son of the original owner. He inherited it after his father passed away in 85.

I am either the 3rd or 4th owner of mine, depending on how you look at it. First owner bought it brand new and traded it in @ 1 year old. Second owner bought and used on family farm as a tractor and stuff hauler. Second owner's nephew inherited it when 2nd owner died, kept it on the farm until he sold it to me (on eBay). So I am 3rd or 4th, and lovin it. Had 82k miles when I got it 8 months ago, now has 88k.

Officially, I am the second owner. It was bought new in Dallas at an RV dealer (at least I think so--Libby's Coach Sales?), so I think it must've been bought with a slide-in already installed. And I think that's what it was used for most of its life, because it only has 69K original miles. And it was kept very original. After the old guy died, it passed through two others' hands without changing the title before it got to me. Oh, and I have THE original title certificate.

On my trucks it all depends on which part you're talking about.

I'm the second owner of my truck. My dad bought it off the lot in 68. I still give him hell about getting the 307 instead of the 396!
I will NEVER get rid of my truck. If I finish building it the way I want and then completely wrap it around a tree or something (God, forbid), I'll pop the VIN tag off and build it again. Maybe one day I'll pass it on to my son (if he's lucky). |

I'm the second owner of my 69. In fact when I purchased the truck from it's original owner he still lived at the same address that was on the original dealership papers that are in the glove box. When I bought it he told me that at 70 years old he finally decided he wanted something with power steering. I have run into him a couple of times since I bought the truck. He's told me some interesting stories involving it. My favorite was he told me the first time he took is son hunting, his son didn't know how to handle a shotgun and wound up accidentally shooting the truck. He blew out the back glass and pepperes the tailgate with little holes. The holes are still there just filled in, you can still see where the paint was touched up.

I boutht my truck about 5 years ago from the son of the original owner. He said he had it for about 4 years. It was a farm truck that ended up sitting in storage for a number of years. That's all I know about the history of my truck.

I think I'm the third owner of the 67 GMC I am building for my Son.The date on the title I got was 1971. The protect-o-plate has a different name than the title I got. Who knows,it may have had a few owners in between 67 and 71. I have owned about a dozen 67-72's over the course of my life. The one that really sticks in my mind was a 68 Chevy Short Step. I picked it up from a guy that bought it at a Government surplus auction. It spent it's life at the Fallon Naval Air Station on the runway and tarmack. It was painted battle ship gray and had a 4' x 8' reflective sign on the back that said "follow me". It had a manufacturers title and had never been registered with the DMV. It only had 24,000 documented miles on it. There were no options on it at all. The only thing listed on the glove box sticker was undercoat delete. It had a six with a powerglide. It was the straightest rust free truck( I mean truly rust free not a speck of rust anywhere or previous body work) I ever bought(got it in 1996 for $500). I spent about a year doing a rodstoration frame off. I sold it about a week after I finished it. It was a once in a lifetime find that I really regret selling. I thought I would have had a few problems with the DMV being that all I had was a manufacturers title but they did a visual inspection of the VIN and a month later I got the title in the mail. That's my previous owners story. Take Care....Greg
