Plug wire routing 84 SBC 305

Anyone have a pic of the way they routed their plug wires? I have a 59 Apache with a 1984 C10 SBC 305. I've burned two sets of wires on the ram horn manifolds. Thinking about going to headers, but want to get the wires run correctly before I make any other changes. When I got the truck, the wires were definitely run wrong. Don't know if they should run under the manifolds or over. Any help would be great. Thanks!

well that depends on if they are the long wires or short wires. me what i always do is get the shorts and go over the vc. and have a good wire loom. but i like the looks of the longs under the manifolds but again wire looms. i have made a few out of scrap and the slip one looms

Do you know where to find the looms? I assume you mean the ones that actually attach to the valve cover gasket studs? I have looked at the local parts stores and had no luck finding them. Thanks for the info.

Re: Plug wire routing 84 SBC 305

If you have the factory 84 truck exhaust manifolds the plug wires on #1, 3 and 5 run under the exhaust outlet next to the block right past # 7 plug where they pick up #7 and the 4 (1,3,5,7) continue up behind the head to the dist.
Sounds crazy but you cant run them over the valve cover cuz of the exhaust. As you have found out.
Also the wires are all 90 degree boots except for one is straight. (#6 iirc)
If you get headers you don't have this problem.

If you have actual "ram horn" exhaust (we used to run corvette ram horns on our circle track car) then run #5,7 and #6,8 up the back side of the heads and #1,3 and #2,4 up the front side of the heads, across the top of the intake to dist. That's how we used to do it
