Speakers in A/C Outlets ?

Curious, my truck is a plain jane Custom/10 without factory A/C. Am contemplating the idea of installing a pair of the dash A/C outlets with speakers mounted in them to project the sound into the cab area. Anyone ever done this? Have a true factory AM/FM in the stock radio mount area and will mount a am/fm/cassette/CD on the floor hump. Have a splitter for the antenna so will be able to run two radios off of the stock fender mount antenna.

Re: Speakers in A/C Outlets ?

i think they would be tiny and tinny sounding, maybe they'd work for tweeter mounts
i'd go with kick panel mounted speakers, you can make them for cheap out of fiberglass
look at my interior build link in my sig for an idea of how to start them for your truck

cassette/cd player? how vintage

Re: Speakers in A/C Outlets ?

You are probably right about the small sound coming from that size speaker. I have Pioneer 6 x 9's in the cab corners, was just wanting some sound from the front. Have a set of Polk 5 1/4's, may mount them up front under the dash.

As for cassette/cd player, being 63 years young I'm also vintage but still playing with cars and trucks. Besides the '71 4x4, have a '71 Chevelle SS I am restoring, a '57 2 dr. sedan I used to 1/4 mile thats needs attention and a '55 2 dr. wagon that needs a full restore. Need to win the lottery to fund that many projects.

Re: Speakers in A/C Outlets ?

I used Kicker 4.25" 2 ways for my center channel. There are some good quality 3.5" highs, but the are highs for sure.
