What's the deal with sbc water pumps cracking/ breaking at the heater hose port???

I thought I was the only one with this problem on a swp, but tonight I was looking at two other builds and see this has happened to others as well (gringoloco and thelonerife). I knew I didn't overtighten mine either. I guess it just goes to prove that new parts do not equal good parts.

Well you can always weld a rib to the next one to make sure it doesnt break off <cringe>
Sorry about your bad luck with the water pump, but hey on the bright side atleast it can be exchanged.

What stinks is all three of us painted and installed the dang junk, only to have to repeat the process!

I would advise anyone replacing a pump to install the hose nipple FIRST before painting or installing the pump!

Also look at the hole on the side for the heater hose for a ''thin casting around the hole'' before you leave the parts house. I didn't notice it till the piece was on the floor.

The 3rd new one cracked also. Didn't know it till I put anti freeze in. Thought it was the hose clamp. After it started, it leaked more. I looked closer with a light and found it. So no more cast wp's for me. Ordering this one.
