What else do you need to do to get this thing out? I have loosened the bezel, but it's still hangin in there.

Try using some liquid graphite in the lock.

Squirt some in and work it with the key, then leave it sit to dry.

Then try the tip on GMC Pauls site.

The liquid graphite works into all the spots that gum up.

let me guess it is probably a 67 or 8 it seems like these just dont want to come out I dont have an acc to the left so that seems to be the kicker? anybody else help here?

With the 67 type ignition you just use the paper clip plan in the off position and push the clip in and rotate left.

Yup. That's how i got Jeweles' 68 ignition switch out. It just takes some messing with and some sweet talkin.

the switch was kinda stiff

I am bringing this back up I still can not get mine out. it is a 68 that has no accessory spot to the left (CCW) but that may not matter. I worked and worked on it last night and still can not get it out. The good news is that I did spray enough WD-40 to get my switch working really good

but it still wont come out

I talked really nice to her then I broke out the Whiskey cause it still wouldnt work so I went back to sanding. Any other thoughts?

Does the key slide out of the ignition switch in any position? I have done a few like that, and I found that a small bent screwdriver workd pretty good. I ise the paperclip or whatever and get the thing inside to depress, then I'll slide the key out and insert the small bent screwdriver. Kinda pull against the face plate (if that's what you want to call it) and it might come out.
That's what i had to do to get Jewles' switch out.

OK Andy yes my key will slide out in any position running or what ever. So you just need to put the key in press on the spring in the little hole (I used an allen wrench) not turn the key and just work on getting the outter ring off? Sound right? I will try this...again

If anybody wants to add to this pleas do.

Here is what i did:
my key comes out in any position on my 70, so what i did was remove the bezel and pull switch, lock and everything out from behind as a group. then i unplugged the harness from it. i tried everything to get the dang lock out of there. after about 20 minutes of yellin i broke down and went and bought a new lock and a new ignition switch. but then i couldnt get the bezel to go over the lock from oreilly (the key says gm car... hmm? wrong part?) so i went over to my trusty sander and sanded it till the bezel went over it. AFTER ALL THIS i still could not turn the truck off using the key. that was the original reason for pulling it all out, see. now, when i wanna turn the truck i have to go under the hood and pull the power cable thingy off the hei distributor

sounds like you have constant power to your hei. It needs to be switched.
Where is the hot wire to your hei coming from?

Yeah, if the parts are correct, you won't be able to pull the bezel off over the ignition switch.
