Shorting mirror arm
I want to cut 2-3" off the outside mirror arm and go from the stock 5" round to a 3 to 4" round mirror head. Before I start cutting I thought I would ask to see if anyone has done this and could post some pictures.
Thanks for the help |

Re: Shorting mirror arm
Why not get a short 60-61 cast iron mirror arm which is 2" shorter. The 62-66 arms are hollow and the 60-61 are solid.

Re: Shorting mirror arm
Would a shorter arm clear the vent window on a 64-66? I've thought of doing this on my '66.

Re: Shorting mirror arm
hmmm...not sure. Never put one on a 64-66 door. But if it clears for a standard arm, I would think it would for an arm that 2" shorter. Especially is running the factory mirrors w/the bottom stud. It allows the mirror to be adjusted out different than the aftermarket mirrors w/the center studs. I could mail on edown to check if needed though. I have a short arm left.

It's been done by a member on this site. Orange truck, painted bumpers, can't remember his Avatar.

Re: Shorting mirror arm
It could also be easily done with JB Weld if you could find a piece of smaller tube that was a slip fit inside. Just section the outer tube with a tubing cutter, slip the pieces together with a glob of epoxy, and wipe/sand the outside of the seam when it dries.
