Trailing arm mount angle?

Hey, just wondering if anyone knew the angle c reated between the pinion amd the trailing arm mounting pads. I am planning on installing a '80 12 bolt, and was wondering what angle to weld the pads at. Also, should I adjust my pinion amgle at all while Im at ot? Im planning at least a 4"drop in the rear.

You absolutely, IMO, cannot go off what someone else tells you in this area. Pinion angel depends on right height which affects the angle of the trailing arm. Simple things like your engine and trans mount can affect the centerline of your motor which is what your pinion angle is mated to (in reverse angle). This chart should help. I once almost setup a Camaro to what was supposed to be stock. If I had gone with that and burned my perches on, I would have been way off for MY setup. You need to just tackle it the right was and do the math.

I thought because I have a 2 piece driveshaft it would be different? The carrier bearing doesnt seem like its going anywhere from truck to truck.If I do have to set up the pinion angle myself, what tools do I need?

Same thing. Your engine/trans should already be parallel with the axis of your carrier bearing.

Get your rear end set in place at whatever your new ride height will be and adjust the pinion angle to parallel with the engine.

Ok. Thanks guys! I will pick up an angle finder thiz week sometime. Im assuming that I should remove the springs and just set the axle at ride height then?bolted to the trailing arms of course.
