problem:not so low

So my 63 is going back together and part of the project included drop spindles and 1" lower springs in the front and 4" lower springs in the rear. The problem is it doesn't look much lower than when I started. Considering as well the new tires are 235/75 15 and the old ones on the truck were 205/75 15 I expected the top of the tire to be much closer to the bottom of the fender. Could I have possibly received stock coils? or is this look correct for the pieces I have installed. I have included the "bringing home pic" for comparison both pics are of the truck sitting on its 4 wheels.

Re: problem:not so low

The original springs were probably sagging some.

The diff in diam of 205x75x15 and 235x75x15 is only approx. 1.75 inches; this puts the top of the tire approx. 7/8 inch(half the diam.) higher up inside the fender--not much. Just eyeballing, your front fender appears to have about 3 to 4 inches less opening between its lip and top of tire(top of where orig. tire came to)--dunno what drop your spindles had. Cannot tell about rear, as no 'after' to compare with the 'before'.
HTH make you happier.

Re: problem:not so low

Spindle are 2" drop and the rear is definitely lower than stock. It's true there is more weight to go on and they will settle some.

Re: problem:not so low

I had the same problem as you have....orginal springs have sagged to about the level as your new 1 inch dropped springs....I hated to spend the money twice but bit the bullet and bought another set 2 inches lower....Ride height is perfect

Re: problem:not so low

Mine sets fine in the front but it seems impossible to get the perfect ride height front to rear. I solved that problem by adding air bags to the rear which replaced my coils. Then I could adjust it to be just right......even if I changed the front I could always raise or lower the rear it as needed and it really did not cost much (schrader valves instead of on board compressor) Kieth

Re: problem:not so low

Do these springs have to be indexed like passenger cars? On RWD GM cars, there are two holes on the lower control arm. The end of the spring should cover one hole. This will put you at the correct height. (Forgive my ignorance, I'm a car guy, getting into trucks!)
