I was scrolling through Craigslist today and I found a 1970 c30 1ton longhorn Chevy! It's in... Alright condition but he's asking around 4000$. I haven't gone to look at it because it's a pretty far drive. Rust= unknown. He says he drives it once a week and it has a factory 402 big block. I guess my question would be: is the price to high and is it worth fixing up?

I feel that price is a bit much. I would say 1500 ish is more chewable. The truck is kinda "rare" ( c30, tach, 402, ac ) but it looks pretty rough from here. It is always the amount someone will pay for it. If he gets 4000 for that I should move to texas

That could be a nice one fixed up but as said above, $4000 is steep.

$4,000 isn't all that steep. Offer less,of course. It looks straight as an arrow with tired original paint to me. We replace grilles for dings or being faded...no biggy. A C/30 Longhorn bog block is a very unique vehicle in the big picture and most certainly worth fixing up. That's a great find!

YES!! BUT a Longhorn 4x4 would be cool in my opinion. OH I guess I am just prejudice.... A shortie 1Ton 4x4 would be cool too.

See that's why I'm kinda on the edge. Either I look for a swb k10( which I've been doing for over a year now) and restore it as is or I find a lwb and cut it down.

I don't want to ruin it because once I cut it it'll never be a long bed again.
I've found one or two k10s but they want 7-8k just because its a k10 and it still would need a lot of work

This truck is more than an average longbed. It's as special as a shortbed. Find what you want and let someone who appreciates it buy it. This is not a run of the mill Longhorn. Mostly,why pay $4,000 for a truck you think might not be worth it just to cut it up and use about 1/2 or less of it? You'd do best to fond a LWB K/10 and cut it down. If you use a 2wd donor there's more to it than shortening and many more parts to buy

Thanks for the replys guys! I guess I've made my decision and I'll really kick finding a k10 into overdrive. I just liked this truck because it's a 402 and a 1ton.
