Re: Odd Army truck option

Interesting SPID, but it is for a C20 factory stake truck. The 9000 series (fleet option) options listed are pretty much as expected but the "photograph unit" is something I haven't seen before. If I were to speculate it would be for a decal group. It is unlikely that it is an actual camera or a photolab module, but possible. Could you post the full SPID and VIN at least through year and plant?

Thanks for the pictures they are great to have. Did you see 12 quarts of undercoating? Also did you see, by chance, and get a picture of the radiator sight gauge? Has anyone else?

Could it be instructions to provide photographic documentation of the truck prior to shipment? Could be that they wanted a base line documentation of the truck from the factory.

It might have been a military truck. We have them now, had them in the 80's seems very possiable that they had them then?

Super-secret spy truck.

Yeah, several interesting things on that SPID, for sure.

I didnt notice all the option until i got the door home, i did look it over pretty good and didnt see the sight gauge or anything else unusual. It was pretty rough and picked over.

Re: Odd Army truck option

It may also have had some kind of mounting system for an actual camera system. I know we had humvees like that in the Army but of course things have changed in 45 years!

Re: Odd Army truck option

Military spec call outs aren't something you'll find in GM data books commonly available. I think it means the truck came with a picture . Ok,not funny, but I tried

Re: Odd Army truck option

The G is worn off a bit. It's a magnetic drain plug that will collect any shavings as an indication of excessive engine wear.

There's also 'Magnetic Plugs' too. I wonder if that is for all the others, like tranny and rear end?
