Hey guys, I had some electrical problems the other week, found out it was one of the in-line fuses from the starter. There are two fuses down there, one that has one line in/ one line out. The other has one line in/ two lines out. My busted fuse was the double line one. I removed the fuse and connected all three wires together with an electrical....ummm well ok I have no idea what its called but its the connecter thingy that screws over the wires. Anyways I put them together and preto truck is good. Now truck is horrible and wont run and my plugs are wet which makes me think I screwed up my ignition by removing that fuse? Any other ideas? I posted my saga of problems in the drivetrain forum.

Dude!,

Are you saying you used a household wire nut that looks like a milk shake cup for a barbie doll??

If so you gotta get that thing off of there like right now!

If it comes off you could have a fire on your hands cuz you have no protection i.e. no more fuseable link.

The next thing you need to do is find out why the fuseable link blew in the first place they don't just go bad! and correct the problem. Could be a bad starter solinoid or the starter windings.

Then get another fuseable link and some compression crimp type wire connectors and install it like the original was.

This could cause a poor running conition cuz you probably have a piss poor connection on these wires and it's important that they make good contact for proper runing of the trucks electrical system.

There is a reason that that fuse was put there. Obviously you need it because it blew for some reason. I would suggest replacing it and track down the original problem.

When I was pulling the tranny out my friend lowerd when he wasent supposed to and it contacted the power area, causing a spark that knocked out the fuse. Yes we took the battery cables off after that

no offence bro, but thats why when you look in a chiltons or haynes manual, under any how to- the first step is always "unhook the battery"
p.s. hooking up the battery backwards will also knoxk out the fusable link. <--been there, dun that

Sounds like something that was after market..........but definately put it back till you find the problem.

Contact GMC Pauls, he's been very helpful in the past with wiring issues....
