I just traded my neighbor for a 78 GMC 3/4 ton. How/where do i look for the way to identify these??? There's probably a thread out there already, but if someone could shoot me in the right direction I'd appreciate it!

As for your transfer case...pics are easiest.

Axles http://coloradok5.com/axleguide.shtml on the t case look for a round metal tag it should say like np203 or np205 just get the np number off it.
